Helsinki, capital of Finland is known as a cosmopolitan city with a somewhat small town atmosphere. Scattered with fantastic outdoor cafes and lush parks to explore, Helsinki is best explored in the height of summer when the sun shines for most of the day and night!

Located on a peninsula reaching into the Baltic sea, are never far from water in Helsinki. The mammoth Baltic ferries seem to cruise right into the heart of the city. Architecturally it is a blend of Russian and Swedish influences as over its 450 year history the two struggled to control the sea routes. Helsinki has loads to offer the visitor, from the Art Deco 'Yrjonkadun Uimahalla' swimming bath and sauna (simply the best in Finland) to the new Opera House (a tribute to Helsinki's commitment to design) or the Art Nouveau train station (straight out of a fantasy novel). Helsinki certainly isnt your average European Capital. Visit Saunabar which combines a sauna and a bar as only the Finns would, or try the Lappi restaraunt for a serving of reindeer tongue or snow grouse in kitsch surroundings. Go to Helsinki for something very different. If you can catch it, the Helsinki Festival rakes place in August with all night festivities and street performances until dawn.
