This significant cultural and scientific institution is home to impressive collections about nature and humanity.
The American Museum of Natural History has advanced and expanded since it opened in 1869. It hosts an ever-changing array of exhibits, in addition to its regular ones and the Rose Centre planetarium, ensuring that visitors always find something new to enjoy. There is something for everybody, from ecology and dinosaurs to cosmic pathways and Native Americans.
It will be necessary to visit the American Museum of Natural History more than once to see all its exhibits, but there are several tours that will help visitors to take in all that it has to offer. The Highlights Tour takes place every day at a quarter past the hour, every hour from 10:15am to 3:15pm, and starts on the second floor, at the entrance to the Akeley Hall of African Mammals. Volunteers wearing red buttons are available to explain exhibits. Entrance to the Museum is free, and it is open daily from 10am to 5:45pm, closed on Christmas Day and Thanksgiving.
